Large empty eyes looked up toward the sky. The darkness that swallowed up the lands might have worried others, but it caused a smirk to come across this certain wolf. He was a loner. A nomad, roaming around as he pleased, never sticking to one place for too long, the longer he staid…the more the memories came flooding back to him. He hated the memories. The memories that haunted him every single moment of his life. There was only thing that he was afraid of and that was remembering. He just wished the memories would vanish before him and leave him alone, let him live in peace, but he knew that would never happen.
Daemon wasn’t always Daemon…he only been Daemon for a year…before that he was Dasher. A totally different wolf both looks and personality. Dasher was a lanky red wolf who was a companionate wolf, while Daemon lusted for blood and pain. The past year seemed to drag on slowly, it seemed like an eternity ago since he been Dasher, but he no longer wanted to be the depressed wolf, he liked being strong and powerful…didn’t he? If he loved it so much. If he really didn’t care about the old him. Then why did the memories and dreams of her keep coming back?
He loved her. He still loved her (Even though he’ll never admit it to himself) He was heartbroken when he left. He looked everywhere for her…and maybe sometimes part of him is still searching for him…partly believing he’ll never see her again. Akina was the only one that he loved, the only one he deeply cared about, the only wolf he was absolutely do anything for her…but now things were different…he was different.
Daemon closed his eyes as a sigh escaped his maw. He pushed the thoughts away as he looked around. The forest seemed peaceful enough. He could spend a few days here, cause a little pain, rest up and then he would be on his way moving on until he stopped once again, the routine went on from there. It was a simple life, many would probably find it boring, but Daemon had worst days and he didn’t really mind doing the same thing over and over again and in fact sort of enjoyed it.
He grinded his teeth together as he looked around, grunted as he took a few steps forward and narrowed his eyes. Looking around for his next victim.

How long had it been? Two years? Three years? Almost three years, that was it. It had been almost three years since she had been in a pack, three years since she had real contact with other wolves. What she had in the past year, that wasn't even close. It couldn't compare to this. This was much calmer, more peaceful, and definitely safe. Unlike before. Before, it was terrible. Blood was painted over nearly everything, the lands were barely alive, and the cave.. the cave was tiny and hard. The walls were cold and cracked with age and ugly rodents and hairy bugs crawled through the crevices. It wasn't pleasant in the least.
This, though, this was better. It was large and spread out. Even with the darkness that lingered around like a shadow, it was beautiful. It was cold, but the cold was better than the blistering heat she had endured a year ago. It was enough to kill someone. That past memory began to go further back, back to when she belonged to another pack, a pack that was the nicest she had come across since the whole accident. That pack was a safe haven like this one, or so she had thought until the beast had arrived. She could remember that night as if it happened yesterday. It had come to kill her like it had killed her family and pack members. But he didn't. He was stopped. And he was killed. By who, she didn't want to even think of his name, but it wasn't avoidable.
Dasher. It wasn't nearly as bad as before. Before, her heart would ache and it felt as if there were a large hole in her body, steadily growing larger as time went on. Tears would fall from her eyes for countless hours until there was nothing left. It literally felt like she was falling apart and tearing at the seams. But now, it was a little better. There was only a small pang inside and tears would well up in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She had to get over it, but she knew she never would. He was the only wolf she had ever loved. The only wolf she would ever love. She wouldn't give her heart to anyone else. She didn't want to. If she had to, she'd die alone without someone there by her side. Her heart was his, even if he was long gone.
It hit her then; a strange, but somewhat familiar scent. She halted in her steps as her lavender eyes narrowed slightly in confusion. Was she delusional now? She knew she missed Dasher terribly, but was it so bad that she was now imagining things? Her gaze dropped to the ground and the tears began to well up once again, but she wouldn't let them fall. She would just wait it out like she always did. Maybe she wasn't imagining things. Maybe he was really there, within her reach. But what were the chances of that? There was a one in a million chance that it was him. Maybe it was just another wolf that was somewhat like him. But, maybe, there was a small chance, that it was him. What if---
"Moooom! Mom, mom, mom, mom! OHMYGOSH, MOM! This place is soooo coool!" Her thoughts were interrupted as a small pup ran up to her side, looking around the forest with extreme curiosity. His violet eyes were wide and gleaming, taking in his surroundings enthusiastically. His maw parted and his pale pink tongue lolled out on the side as his tail wagged furiously. He looked nothing like the wolf that he stood by, but they were mother and son.
Akina blinked rapidly as she attempted to slow her heart down. She had forgotten that Tamak was there with her; he had been unnaturally quiet. She wished the tears away and looked toward her son, a soft smile playing across her maw. He was the only good thing she had in his life. The only joy she had. The only thing she had to live for. "It is, isn't it?" she spoke quietly, taking the time to take in her surroundings. She was still bothered by the scent. Was it him? Or was it someone else? Or was she just crazy and imagining everything?

Daemon paused as his eyes soon landed upon a lone female and a young pup, who he guessed it must have been her son. He lingered in the shadows, his tongue running across the blood upon his teeth. He had just killed and eaten a deer; he could still taste the blood on his maw, a bitter taste that sent a shiver down his spine. He was getting bored and decided it would be a nice way to play a few tricks upon a wolf, and since this wolf was obviously a loner, why not her?
Right when he was about to sneak up to her, he stopped dead. Something about her was…familiar. Like he seen her before…no…like he known her before…but when? Daemon never stopped to talk or ‘remember’ the wolves he met on his way…but what if she was from before? When he was known as Dasher and not Daemon. No. It couldn’t be then either. The only wolf he paid any attention to was Akina. It has so long ago. He could remember everything about her…but somehow the memory of how she looked was swept clean from his memory, while everything else was fresh.
He shook the memories from his head. He didn’t want to think about that. He took a few steps forward, as he began to advance toward the female, grinding his sharp fangs together and digging his claws into the ground as his large tail flickered around him cracking in the air like a whip. It didn’t take long for the memory to finally fade away, he was no too concentrated on what he was going to do and say to this female to cause her misery. He had no time to think. The memories would return later, but for now he was ready to have fun.
“Well well well…look at what we got here. It’s not safe to be alone in the darkness.” His voice was harsh and cut through the air like a knife…but there was still a hint, even though it was hardly there, of Dasher.

Instantly, Akina was on alert. She moved her body so she was now standing above Tamak, who was looking at the male with mild curiousity, and lowered her stance some to protect her son rather than herself. Years ago, she would have fled from sight, maybe even begged for her life to be sparred, but that wasn't going to happen this time. Past experiences had hardened her up, making her less afraid of a fight now. Her lips curled back, revealing the sharp white fangs that were hidden beneath. Her ears pinned back against her skull and a low growl rumbled in her chest.
"Maybe for someone as ridiculous as yourself," she spat, some of the 'old' Akina flarring up once again. She wasn't going to back down. She wasn't going to run. She wasn't going to cower in fear. If she had to give her life to protect her son, she would do it. Her lavender eyes narrowed as she took in the males appearance. He didn't look familiar to her. Maybe she had just been imagining things. She just missed Dasher so bad, she was going crazy. Yes, that had to be it. There was no way this wolf could be him. Dasher wasn't like this. He had never been like this. At least, not that she had known about. "So why don't you move along, pal?" If this wolf thought she was going to let him boss her around, he had to think again. Daemon let out a chuckle and shook his head. He had come across different kind of wolves. Those who begged him to spare their life while others put up a fight, which he liked, he liked watching them struggle and fight to protect themselves…but they failed every time. “Now don’t be so harsh.” He said as a smirk crossed his maw. This wasn’t the real him. He would have never done this. Dasher was kind…Daemon was the opposite. He took a few steps forward, as he looked over her appearance, she didn’t look familiar, but there was just something about her…he couldn’t really figure what it was.
“You think you can stop me? Go ahead and try.” He growled as he lowered his position as if he was going to attack her, but he wasn’t, at least not yet. “No one can stop Das-Daemon.” He said fixing his mistake quickly. Why had he almost said Dasher? His name was Daemon now. Dasher was dead. He was long gone. But even he knew he wasn’t dead…he was somewhere inside…deep down inside locked away.

Akina tossed her head back, her laughter filling the air around them. "Harsh? If you want me to be harsh, I will." She snorted and shook her head, looking at this wolf in disbelief. She took a few steps forward so Tamak was now behind her rather than under her, and sneered in amusement. "You males are so ridiculous. Just because you're filled with testosterone doesn't mean you can kick the crap out of everyone you come across." She tossed her maw in the air and rolled her eyes skyward. She couldn't believe him. There was no way this wolf was Dasher. Her Dasher wasn't ever like this. This wolf, he was just foolish.
"No one can stop you? Well, Mr. Bigshot, why don't you make the first move?" she asked, taking a few more steps forward so she was now directly in front of him, just an inch away from his face. There was no fear in her eyes, just determination. She knew what could happen, but she wasn't going to run.

“I may do whatever I please.” He hissed at her. He was getting irritated at her, not only because of her attitude, but because something was clicking in his mind…but all he wanted to do was pushing it away. “If I wish to kick or kill wolves, then I may do as I please. We demons don’t really like kindness.” He said matter-of-factly.
He watched her take a step forward. She was brave, he would give her credit for that, but also foolish. He could kill her, but he wasn’t going to. True he liked to play around with his ‘prey’ before killing it, but that wasn’t what stopped him, and then what was it? He cursed under his breath as he took a step back. He mumbled something to himself. It was barely audible, but it sounded like.
“Fuck you Dasher. Why can’t you let me kill her?”

Akina's sneer grew and she barked a laugh. "Don't like kindness, huh?" she asked, looking at him with amusement. "You're being awfully damn kind for being a 'demon'." Her sneer turned to a smirk and her gaze wandered elsewhere. This wolf was ridiculous. And he called himself a demon? Her shoulders shook in silent laughter as she looked over her shoulder, her eyes landing on Tamak. She wasn't worried that this male was going to attack. He was just bluffing. Had he really wanted to, he would have done so by now. Her gaze snapped back to Daemon and she shook her head, the smirk still in place. "Wuss."
With that, she looked back to Tamak and jerked her head in another direction. "Come on. There's nothing to worry about. He's not going to hurt you. We're leaving now," she said softly, smiling gently. The pup, trusting his mother more than anyone else, darted up to her side and glared at the male in hopes to scare him off. Akina looked back to Daemon and snorted as she took a step around him. "If you ever want a real fight, let me know. The name's Akina. Don't forget it." Having said that, she shoved passed him with a haunting look and began to travel down the ways she was originally going, not bothering to look back, and not even knowing what she had just done.

Akina? Did she just say her name was Akina? No...he was mistaken. She said something him....right? His eyes watched her leave, his heart pounded in his chest and he took sharp breaths. Perhaps that is why she looked so familiar. Yes, this had to be Akina...there was only way to prove this. Daemon would prove to Dasher that she said another name. She wasn't Akina.
He ran after her and jumped in front of her, pinning his ears back upon his head, those his eyes were softer then they were before. "Do you happen to know a wolf named Dasher by any chance? Dasher Nightmoon?" He said bluntly. There. She would say no shake her head and leave...probably saying something else smart at him, but at least he would prove that Dasher was wrong.

Nearly slamming into him again, this time because he stepped in front of her, Akina growled irritably. What more did this wolf want? She was about to tell him off until he said the name Dasher. How did he know his name? Maybe he had come across him in some travel or some sort. Or, maybe it was just a coincidence. She averted her gaze away from his as her heart all but jumped out of her chest. She thought about saying 'No', but she couldn't bring herself to do so. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes, but she forced them away by blinking furiously. It would have been too obvious just by seeing the expression on her face.
She straightened herself up and cleared her throat, making herself look back over to him. "Yes," she said, masking the expression of sadness with one that was void of anything. "What's it to you?" she asked, going somewhat stiff. She wasn't sure why it mattered to him.. unless he was just going to tell her that he killed Dasher. Maybe that was it. He had killed him and he was going to tell her and laugh about it. She looked down to Tamak in order to keep herself together, having no clue that this wolf was Dasher, just in a different form.

"Darn!" He said out loudly. So Dasher was right. This was Akina. This was his former mate. Daemon hissed as he felt his power grow weaker. Before Dasher had given up all hope, but now that his past love returned he pushed his way through and soon it was Daemon who was in the back of his mind, cursing at him, but he wouldn't let go. No Dasher wouldn't let go this time. He didn't look like Dasher, but his features were now soft and warm, tears formed in his eyes, but he didn't let them fall.
"Akina..." He whispered. His voice was no longer Daemon's it was his own. "It's me....Dasher..." He whispered. Hoping that she would believe him. Hoping she wouldn't be angry that he tried to kill her...for it wasn't him...well it kind of was, but it was mostly Daemon.

Akina stared at him wordlessly, her expression void of any emotion. Any color or life that had been on her face or in her eyes had drained away instantly. Who did this wolf think he was kidding? She wasn't stupid. There was no possible way it was Dasher. "Don't kid yourself," she said flatly, tearing her gaze away from his. "You don't have to be that harsh.. but, I guess since you're a demon and all..." She shook her head as her ears drooped only slightly. "You're not my Dasher...," she said so quietly, it was almost hard to hear. She sighed heavily and moved to go passed him once again, forcing herself not to look at him.
When she was only a few yards away, she halted in her steps and spoke again. "Nice joke, though... if you were trying to hurt me, well, it worked." She attempted to force a smile, but even that couldn't be done. She wouldn't believe him. How could he say something like that? Besides that, how could he know something like that? Maybe he was a mind reader as well as a demon. Yes, that had to be it. He had read through her thoughts. But why had his scent seemed somewhat familiar? It wasn't possible... for all she knew, Dasher was dead. Gone. Never to return. But...
"Mom... are you okay?" Tamak interrupted Akina's thoughts once again as he spoke, looking up at her with a concerned expression. He wasn't very old, but he was wise beyond his years. He knew something was bothering his mother and it seemed to have to do with that wolf who said his name was Daemon, but then he also said his name was Dasher. It was somewhat confusing for the young wolf, but he would only speak about it if he knew it was alright.
Akina cleared her throat and shook herself back into reality as she looked down to her son. "I'm fine, honey. Everything's fine." She hated having to lie to him. He was the only joy in her life, after all. It wasn't fair to keep things from him. But, sometimes... she just couldn't help herself. Somethings were better left unsaid. [/blockquote]

"This isn't a joke, Akina!" Dasher called after her. He could understand why she wouldn't believe him...he still couldn't believe it was her, but he had to make her believe it was him. "Daemon...he's a part of me...how do you think he knew who I was? I was bitten by a demon...like a year ago after we got separated." He frowned. He was starting to think this was a dream. It was too good to be true. He thought Akina was dead...but here she was standing in front of him.
"Akina, look at me in the eyes and tell me this isn't me. Ask me anything and I'll know it...please you have to believe me...this really isn't a joke..I promise." His voice seemed to drift off into a whisper as he watched her with sadden eyes. He loved her so much. So many emotions ran through his mind. He wasn't sure which one to express.

"You're not him...," she whispered, though it was meant for her to hear only. She was in denial, it was true. Things like this didn't happen on a day to day basis. She was delusional, only imagining all of this. It was just because she missed him terribly. This was all just happening in her mind. Maybe she was unconscious somewhere and it was a dream. She was only trying to prove herself wrong. She didn't want to believe it was him if it really wasn't. She didn't want to be disappointed. But deep down, she knew he was telling the truth. She just didn't want to believe it.
Tamak stood rooted in his spot, clearly stumped and confused. It was obvious the two knew each other, but why was his mother acting like this? He looked from her to Dasher, a frown across his maw. He wouldn't say anything, though. He figured he wasn't allowed to. But something had to be done, and it had to be done quick. [/blockquote]

He frowned at her words. Of course he understood. They been separated for a year then suddenly a wolf comes out tries to kill her asks her about I'm and then claims to be him. He should have done things differently. He shouldn't have been so open about it, but he was too excited, too happy that he had a chance to see his long lost love once again. He wasn't about to let her walk away though. A year has been to long for him, he had to make her believe.
"Akina..." He whispered her name as he took a few steps forward. "You know it is me." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I know you do. I know it's hard to believe....it's hard for me to believe too...I know it seems crazy that I claim to be Dasher...but I am, I promise you! That is why Daemon wouldn't...couldn't...hurt you...because I stopped him....Akina...please....we've been apart for too long...please don't deny this, because I love you...I always have."

Akina was silent for a long time, really unsure of how to take all of this. In a way, she wanted to believe him. But, then again, she didn't. It had been well over a year since she had last seen Dasher. She figured she would never see him again. And now, there was this wolf who claimed to be him. What was she to think? Either he was just mad, or she was just stupid. And then it suddenly came to her. She knew this would prove it wrong or right. She inhaled sharply and closed her eyes in order to keep the tears from falling.
"If you're really him... then what were the names of our daughters?" If this wolf was Dasher, then he would know. And she would know that this wasn't a scam and that it really was the only wolf she ever loved. She could feel her heart pounding against her ribs as she waited, wondering if she was just going to be disappointed beyond belief, or if she was going to be overwhelmed with... with what? She wasn't sure. She just wanted to figure all of this and get on with her life, but she knew everything was about to change.

"There names were Kikorui and Kohara." He said with out thinking. He was still sadden at the lost of their children. They were such beautiful pups. "They were killed. By that beast from your past. Thank God he's dead." He said with a shake of his head. Dasher knew how much Akina blamed herself for her past...there were alike right there...for Dasher still didn't really forgive himself for causing those hunters to come and kill his pack members.
He hoped this would make her believe him. He looked at her, standing perfectly still. Oh please let her believe me. He thought to himself as he waited. He could wait though. He waited for a year. He could wait for a few more minutes.

If it were possible, time seemed to stop as well as Akina's heart. She was as still as a marble statue and it appeared that she wasn't breathing, either. But, in reality, her heart was beating quickly and quite loudly against her ribs and her breathing was shallow. Her eyes were still closed and she squeezed them shut even more. So it really was him after all. She hadn't doubted it completely, but for some reason, she had hoped she was just wrong and that he was just playing a trick on her. Why she had thought this, she wasn't sure. But now it was all said and done. Dasher, her Dasher, was right there in the flesh. She really wasn't sure what to say or do. She had waited so long for this day to come, thinking it never would, but now it had.
"What.. why.. how.. when..." She wasn't sure what to start with or what to say. All of this was overwhelming. She felt her heart begin to beat even faster and her breathing began to get more shallow. If she had lost her sanity, she would have collapsed right then and there, but she had to keep herself together. And aside from that, she feared that if she was unconscious, she would wake up and all of this would be a dream.
Tamak scrunched his nose and frowned in utter confusion. So, his mother knew this wolf and they had pups? But the pups had died and someone those two had gotten seperated. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he was trying to make sense of it all. Of course, he had no idea that his father kidnapped Akina and did horrible things to her. He figured him and his mother had been together for quite some time, but apparantly he was wrong. [/blockquote]

Dasher sighed out of relief as he took a few steps closer to her. He wanted to be closer to her, but he knew this was hard on her. This was hard on him too. For so long...he been waiting and hoping...he never thought it could actually happen. He felt somewhat responsibly for not finding her sooner. He should have looked harder. He shouldn't have gotten in a fight with that stupid demon....but now none of that mattered...the only thing mattered now was Akina.
"Shhhhh..." He whispered as he took another step forward. He slightly licked her cheek. "It's alright." He said as he closed his eyes. "It's alright." He repeated again. Not just for her sake, but for his own.

She almost flinched at his touch, but it wasn't his fault. She had just been used to pain ever since Alaric kidnapped her. Of course it was different with Dasher. He wasn't hateful and out to kill nearly everyone in the world. Or maybe he was and she just didn't know it. It had been just over a year since she had last seen him, and he was a demon now. Things had changed, but she hoped that most of the old him was still there, just like some of the old her was buried deep inside. She didn't want to get too close, fearing that if she did, the same thing would happen all over again. But not being able to resist, she hid her face in his chest and mumbled something that wasn't audible.
She wanted to agree with him when he said it was alright, but she couldn't. It wasn't alright. They had been apart for over a year and that seemed like an eternity. They had missed out on doing many things together, all because of that one night. Remembering that, she suddenly jerked her head up and looked around for Tamak, having forgotten he was there. She relaxed when she saw him just a few feet away, sitting there in confusion. She felt bad knowing he had no idea what was going on, but she would explain things to him later. At that moment, she had things she needed to tell Dasher, and she didn't want Tamak to know the whole story just yet. She managed to pry herself away from Dasher as she headed over to her son, pausing to lick the top of his head before she spoke. "Tamak, honey, why don't you go explore a little? I'm sure you'll find some interesting things," she said, trying to sound convincing. "But don't go too far, alright?" She loved her son dearly, but somethings were best kept secret until the time was right.
Tamak's frown changed, but he didn't argue. He knew better than that, and besides, this part of the territory did seem interesting and he was a pup, after all. He put on a grin and jumped up to lick Akina's chin before turning to go just a few yards away. "Okay, mom." He grinned wider so his eyes crinkled and all of his sharp little teeth showed. "Maybe I'll find some bad guys and take them down." With that, he darted off into some of the brush with a little yip, soon forgetting about what was going on between his mother and the other wolf. [/blockquote]
