Dasher's gaze turned over and looked at the pup. He had forgotten he was there. There was no doubt that he knew this was Akina's son. Things were sure different then last time. It could have been longer then a year. It could have been forever, but still, he hated the thought that he had been away from his love for a whole year. He turned his attention back toward Akina.
"It seems we have some catching up to do, don't we?" He asked her with a tilt of his head. He wanted to know what happened to her the past year. Where did she go? What happened? So many questions ran in his mind, but he would not ask him, he would wait until she told him...that is if she wanted to tell him.

"I suppose so...," she said quietly as she made her way back to Dasher, sitting down beside him. She sighed heavily and didn't say anything for the longest time. Her lavender gaze was clouded and distant and her ears were turned back as she kept an ear out for Tamak. She was gathering all her thoughts together, trying to go back to the beginning. She didn't want to, but Dasher needed to know. She didn't want him thinking she had left him delibrately. "I guess I'll start with how he came to be...," she said quietly, meaning her son. "Obviously he's mine, not adopted or picked up or anything of the sort." She paused for a moment, trying to fight back the tears that were trying to make themselves noticable.
"Well.. remeber back at the pack? The old one? It was sometime after Kohara and Kikorui.. passed away." It was still painful to say their names, but the hole that was in her heart was gradually healing. They would have wanted their mother to be happy, and she was trying. "This wolf, Alaric, came through with some of his pack members and.. and I guess he wanted me or something, because he just sort of came and got me. I couldn't fight back.. I was too weak." She regretted just giving in like she had. She should have fought back. Maybe if she had, none of this would have ever happened. But she couldn't dwell on that. "He took me back to his territory and made me his slave.. I was his toy. When he was angry, he would take it out on me. He liked to talk trash about me, too. And then.. he forced me to have his pups or else he would have killed me." She dropped her gaze to the ground, feeling ashamed.
"And then, after sometime, they were born. There were six of them and he planned on training them to be like him. He wanted minions or something.. I don't remember. But, Tamak... he was different. He didn't look like the other five. Alaric hated that and he was going to kill him until I begged him not to. And he only gave in because he thought I was hilarious.. what with me begging and all. He liked that." She could feel the tears coming back, but there was no stopping them this time. They began to fall one by one, dropping to the ground in a silence. "But one day, I had enough. I started to plan an escape route, and when they had gone out on an attack, I put it into action," she said, remembering all of it like it had just happened yesterday. "It was dangerous, though. He had left some wolves behind, but I managed to get passed them."
She paused again, but this time for longer. It was hard talking about all of it. It was just another painful memory to add to the others. She wished it would all go away, but it was there to stay. "Tamak and I journeyed through the lands for months until we finally came upon this place. It seemed safe, so I decided it would be best to stay for his sake." She shook her head and closed her eyes, causing more tears to drop silently to the ground. "But I still fear that he'll find me. And if he does, he'll kill me and Tamak. I know that for sure.. I can't let that happen," she said as her eyes opened suddenly with sadness, yet there was a fiery determination behind them. "I can't fail myself.. or Tamak. Especially Tamak.. he's the one that matters the most. He's so young, but he's got a lot to offer." She smiled faintly and looked back to Dasher.
"He's the only thing that kept me going, you know. Without him, I'd probably be dead because of Alaric.. or I'd still be with him. And besides that, I still had some hope that maybe, one day, I'd find you." She laughed quietly, but it held no humor. "And now here you are... it's almost as if I'm dreaming." Her voice broke slightly and she hid her face in his chest again. "And if I am, I don't want to wake up." [/blockquote]

Dasher frowned at her words. He never thought that she left him on purpose. He knew it could have been a possibilities, but it wasn't like her, not everything they been through, to just walk away like that. He felt horrible for all that she been through. He made his way closer to her. He wrapped his tail around her body, getting as closer to her as he could, placing his head on top of hers.
"I'm sorry Akina....for everything that you been through. For what that horrible wolf did to you. After I found you gone...I-I looked everywhere...or so I thought. I spent weeks wandering around calling your name, hoping...just hoping that I would find you....but I never did. I never gave up, but then I got in this fight..with a demon and before he died he bit me...." Dasher closed his eyes. He remembered everything as if it just happened. If he had known he was fighting a demon, he wouldn't have come near him.
"I was weak. I was depressed because I couldn't find you and part of me believed that you were dead. Daemon soon gained control most of me...but I was still there...I killed innocent wolves." He sighed. He hated the things he had done. He knew it wasn't really his fault...but then again it was his fault. Daemon wasn't really a different wolf them Dasher...but sometimes it felt that way. "I did horrible things, Akina. I killed and I laughed. I laughed at their pain....or really it was Daemon who did it. I just let him do it."
"I never thought that I would find you. At least not here." He paused, before he spoke next. The silence stretched on for a while before he finally said. "Akina, I hope you know that I never stopped loving you."

Akina remained silent as she listened to Dasher speaking. Her heart sank slightly and she felt new tears forming, but she wouldn't let them fall. She didn't say anything for awhile. She just wanted to let everything sink it and let the shock wear off. She nuzzled closer to Dasher and sighed. "I don't think you're weak," she said quietly after awhile, laying her head against his chest. "And I don't think bad of you for doing what you did. It's not your fault that.. thing became a part of you." She was beginning to relax now, feeling better than she had before. It had been too long since she was kept from Dasher and she wanted every moment to count.
Hearing his last sentence, the trace of a smile began to make its way across her maw. It was the first real smile she had in a long time. She pulled her head away and managed to look up at him, her lavender eyes soft. "I never doubted it... that kept me going, too. And I never stopped loving you, either."

Dasher looked down at her and smiled. "You don't know who good it is to hear that. Or to see you. Or to hear you....It's been way too long...way too long." He said with a slight shake of his head. It felt as if it been hundreds of years since he been this close to her. In reality it only been a year, but to him every day that passed with her near him felt like a year.
"Nothing matters now of the past, does it? We're together now. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not going to let anything happen to you or your son. I promise." He said to her and he would keep that promise. No matter what.

Her smile grew slightly and her eyes dropped to the ground. She was happy. She hadn't been this happy in a long time. It felt like centuries, but it had only been just over a year. It would take some time for her to get used to all of this, though. Alaric had scarred her for life and thanks to him, she would probably never be the same again. But, things could change. She had Dasher now. Things were definitely beginning to look up now. "Thanks," she said after awhile. "That means a lot.. especially since Tamak isn't even your's." She shook her head slightly and sighed. She hadn't wanted to have pups, but Tamak had saved her in more ways than one.
"So, where do we go from here?" It was a dumb question, and she was fairly sure she knew the answer, but it didn't hurt to ask. "I'm damaged goods, you know. All thanks to him." She was also fairly sure Dasher would take her as she was, but things could change. She still held some of that doubt, but it was gradually going away. She was about to say something else when she heard a loud yelp and the rustling of bushes. She pulled away from Dasher and, ears perked and eyes worried, searching out the area for Tamak, thinking he was hurt. She relaxed when he appeared from some shrubs looking mighty pleased with himself.
Tamak, who was small despite that fact that he was almost a year old, trotted out with his head held high. Clamped tightly between his teeth was a small, furry rabbit. He dropped it down carelessly when he got up to his mother and grinned widely. "Looklooklooklook! I caught it all by myself," he said, beginning to jump up and down looking proud of himself.
Akina smiled softly at her son and sat back, putting on an expression of surprise. "Well, it looks like I've got a little hunter in my paws now," she said, laughing quietly. "Seems like you picked up some of its traits," she said as she watched him jump with an amused expression.
Tamak only beamed and went back to his rabbit, deciding to find a hiding spot for it.

"Maybe not," Dasher said with a shake of his head, "but he is your son and that counts for something and I can tell how much you care for him." He said. He was good that Akina wasn't always alone, she had someone to be with, even if it was just a pup. While he was alone...oh well except for Daemon, but he didn't provide much 'friendship' or 'companionship' he was just there.
"Same here...well kinda." He told her with a shrug of his shoulders. He didn't care. She would always be perfect to him. "I mean I do have a demon in me...which isn't very good." He said with a shake of his head then frowned. He had promised that he would protect her and her son, but could he protect them from Daemon? "Considering I can't always control him...and as you can see before..he would have killed you with no mercy."
He watched as the small little pup came back. Dasher smiled softly at him seemly proud to have caught a rabbit. It reminded him of when he was younger. All those years ago when he and his brother decided to go down to the village to get some food....never knowing it would end up having most of the wolves in their pack be killed.

"Don't go too far," she said to Tamak's retreating figure. She kept her lavendar eyes on him until he was no longer visible, then turned her attention back to Dasher, though she kept her ears turned in the direction Tamak had wandered off in. "I think I'll be able to handle it," she said with a gentle smile. "I was held captive by something worse than a demon for over a year. I'll manage." It seemed so long ago now, since she had Dasher back. Everything that happened then didn't matter anymore. It was all in the past. It was relieving, in a way.
With a content sigh, she leaned against Dasher's body and stared off into the distance, lost in many of her thoughts. She wasn't sure how long she would have lasted if it weren't for Tamak. Alaric probably would have killed her when he got bored with her. He seemed to be like that. She was just a piece of trash in his eyes. Just something to play with. And now she prayed to whatever higher being there was that he wouldn't find her. Her life would be over before she could even blink. Or, even worse, he would kill Tamak or Dasher. Or both, if he really wanted to. And he would leave her to suffer alone. She shuddered at the thought, forcing back tears.

Dasher remained silent for a long time. It seemed like another lifetime ago since he been with Akina. Yet the memories of before when they were together were still vividly in his mind. He took a deep breath, still remaining silent, he was being engulfed with both good memories and bad. Memories of when he first met Akina, first told her he loved her, their daughters....and then turned to the day he found her missing, wandering all those months searching for her, getting bitting by that demon, and then killed all those wolves.
"Whatever happens..." He whispered to her as if he knew what she was thinking. "We're in this together. I'm not going anywhere every again. I lost you once and I'm not going to lose you again."

Akina shook her head and laughed sadly. "You will be going somewhere some day," she said quietly as she pulled away to look up at him. "When you die... and you'll be losing me." Death was inevitable. She wouldn't deny it. Although she didn't look forward to it, she didn't fear it. It would happen one day and she would be gone, pulled away into oblivion. "But I'm sure it won't be too bad," she said, shaking herself from her thoughts. "It's just death." Sure, it didn't seem like much when you said it, but once you get to thinking about it...
Once again, she shook herself from her thoughts. She didn't need to dwell on something like that. She had plenty of time to life. Unless.. he came and found her. She didn't want to think about that. Just thinking of his name brought chills down her spine. But she couldn't let him get to her. Fear was a weakness, and she didn't want to appear to be weak. She looked back to Dasher and smiled faintly, though her lavendar eyes were cloudy and distant.

"Yes." Dasher said with a nod of his head, agreeing with her. "One day we'll both die, but hopefully that won't come for a while and I'll still be there for you when I die." He said. He wasn't afraid of dying, no, it was the thought of being dead is what he didn't like. He felt as if once your dead that was it, your life was over. No, he didn't want to die now, but he was sure when he was older he wouldn't mind.
"But we don't need to think of such things right now." He told her as he looked in her eyes, a small smile spread across his maw as he watched her. He didn't want to loser her, not again.

"Maybe so...," she said, seeming somewhat distracted. She turned her gaze away from his and looked off into the distance, a small frown forming across her maw. She wasn't sure why, but she was beginning to feel bothered by something. Tamak hadn't run off anywhere; she could still see him just a few yards away, attempting to find a spot to hide his kill. It was starting to get to her more and more, but she tried to ignore it. She didn't want anything bad happening just yet, but of couse, she couldn't stop it.
"So...," she said as she turned back to Dasher, all traces of worry gone. She wasn't sure what to say even though there was plenty to talk about since they had been away from each other for so long. Her brows furrowed and she made a face, letting her eyes drop to the ground as she muttered something under her breath.

Dasher sighed. There was so much to say. So many things he wanted to tell her, but they got jumbled up in his mind and he was no longer quite sure what to say. He closed his eyes as he let his memories drift back to before, when they were in the pack with his mother and brother...whom he haven't seen in a year...it seemed a lot longer then that. It seemed like a lifetime ago. Too long have they been separated. He reopened his eyes and looked at her.
"You're so beautiful, do you know that?" He asked her. "I love you so much. I never stopped. Not for a moment nor will I ever."

Akina stared at him, her face void of any emotion. There was nothing there. She didn't move. She didn't blink. She didn't breathe. She was as still as a marble statue. The silence that hung in the air was soon broken by the giggles that began to escape. She couldn't help it. "You always were a funny one," she managed to say as she nudged him playfully with her nose. "But I suppose I love you anyway," she said with a teasing grin. It had been awhile since she had felt like this, or even laughed like this. It was familar, yet unfamiliar and the same time. She was enjoying it, though.
"So, what's the Big Bad Dasher got in store for me?" she asked, grinning widely. It was obvious some of the old Akina was finally breaking through. She would never have been like this with someone else. Dasher just brought out her better side and no one else had that ability, aside from Tamak. It had always been easy for her to be herself around Dasher anyhow.

A smirk came across Dasher's maw. This reminded him of back then, back when they were together in the old pack, before any of this happened. He really hadn't realized how much he missed her until now. He missed everything about her, even her teasing him. This felt right.
"Hmm. Well let's see. I'm getting hungry...so I think I'll have some Akina Stew. Then I think I'll go check on the land...and then I'll just sleep for the rest of the day." He said, the smirk was still across his maw.
(( Blah. Short >.< ))

"Ha!" she exclaimed, tossing her head back as another round of laughter came. "Such a typical Dasher answer, you lazy wolf." She shook her head, grinning nonetheless. "You never fail to amuse me." It was true. There were many things he did that made her laugh, and laughter was a good thing. It made her feel content, in a way. Like it was right. Everything was right with him, therefore making her life at least seem perfect. She knew better than to say it was perfect. There really was no such thing as perfection.
At that point, Tamak came barrelling back covered in what looked like mud. There was a wide grin spread across his maw and his violet eyes were bright with life. The rabbit was also no longer with him. He skidded to a stop in front of the two, nearly toppling over into his mother. "No one will be able to find it!" he stated, puffing out his small chest. "I did a good job of hiding it." He grinned up at his mother before looking over to Dasher with a suspicious look. "Who's he, anyway?" he asked, looking back expectantly at Akina.
Akina smiled down at her son, laughing softly. "Hopefully you'll be able to find it again, silly boy," she said, licking the top of his head affectionatetly. "And this is Dasher. He's a very very good friend of mine. He'll be around for a long time, so you better get used to him." She gave her son a stern look and her brows rose. She knew he could act up if he wanted to, and he probably would. It had been just the two of them for quite some time. She wasn't sure how he would react to all of this.
Tamak sat there silently for awhile, looking at his mother then at Dasher and back again. His nose scrunched up and he made a face, making it seem like he was going to do something bad, but he was just in thought. He hadn't seen his mother this happy in awhile and he figured it would be best if he behaved. "Okay," he said after awhile, now looking at the both of them. "But no monkey business."
Akina looked down at her son in confusion and amusement. She didn't say anything, though, and only shook her head. At least things were looking up.

“I’m so not lazy.” Dasher said defending himself as he stuck his tongue out at her. This is what he missed about them. Playing little jokes on each other. “But I’m sure by the time I eat that Akina Stew, I’d be too stuff to go anywhere.” He said with a small smile. He was about to say something else when Akina’s son came.
“Yeah,” He said as he nodded his head as he looked back to Akina. “No monkey business, you hear that?” He said still looking at her, unable to keep his gaze away from her. Oh how much he missed her. Everything about he missed during the year they were separated from each other, a year way too long. He never once stopped loving her. A small smile spread across his maw, oblivious to the fact is that he was still looking at her with an odd expression upon his features.

Akina looked at Dasher incredulously, fighting down the urge to laugh hysterically. She had forgotten how ridiculous he could be. It wasn't a bad thing, though. It was something she had always loved about him. He had the ability to make her laugh regardless of how she was feeling. She took a deep breath an exhaled slowly, but the urge to break into hysterics was still there. "Really," she said, her expression quite serious. "I'd say otherwise." She glanced sideways over toward Tamak, who was looking at her impatiently. "Can I help you with something?" she asked, blinking rapidly as a giggle threatened to escape.
Tamak arched a brow, looking at his mother as if she had lost her marbles. He didn't question her sanity, though, and went on to ask her what he had planned on. "Can I go off and explore?" he asked, looking hopeful, though he felt otherwise. He had the feeling she would say no, for she kept him around her nearly all the time. But perhaps he would get lucky this one time. He hoped so.
Akina frowned slightly, all traces of amusement gone for a brief moment. She wanted to let Tamak go do as he pleased, but she wanted him close enough she didn't have to worry about him. She still feared that Alaric would find her somehow and run off with her one son. She had to get over it at some point, though, and she could tell from his expression that he had little hope in her saying yes. She sighed quietly and nodded, giving in. "Alright, alright," she said, trying to put on a smile. "Go on." She knew Tamak was smart enough not to get into trouble, but she couldn't help but worry at times.

Dasher remained silent. For some reason Akina's son, made him think of their daughters. He missed them terrible. The last thing any parent wants is to outlive their children. They were such lievly bright females and they reminded him alot of Akina. He turned his gaze back upon her a small smile upon his maw. He knew she was probably worried. He nudged her slightly with his maw.
He clearly remembered living in that old pack, as if just happened yesterday, but it felt like a centuary ago. He wasn't sure what had become of his mother and brother or the rest of the pack. He had left them in hopes of finding Akina, not knowing it would take a year to find her, but he would have searched for the ends of earth to find her. He would die for her. Anything she wanted, he would do his best to make sure it would get done.

Tamak flashed his mother a wide grin, having not expected her giving in so quickly and easily. He usually had to ask more than once to be able to do what he wanted. He leapt up and licked his mother on the chin, then turned to dart off into the brush. "Thanks, mom!" he said over his shoulder as he ran off into the distance at an abnormal speed, worried his mother might change her mind. "Love ya!" he called, soon disappearing in the darkness that lingered around the area.
Akina sighed quietly, frowning at the spot where Tamak last was. She felt Dasher nudge her, but she paid no mind to it. She couldn't help but worry. He was her only pup, after all. Thinking of that made her think back to the pups she had with Dasher and a feeling of sadness swept over her. They hadn't lived very long and she felt, though she kept it secret, that their deaths were her fault. If she had never come across that beast, they never would have died. But if she hadn't of come across the beast, she probably never would have met Dasher. She tried to think of what her life would be like without him and she couldn't imagine it. Maybe some good things had happened because of the beast, but she still regretted ever coming across it.
She turned back to Dasher, her expression serious, but there was something else hidden behind it, something unrecognizable. "Do you ever wish you could go back and change something and wonder what it would be like if that thing had never happened?" she asked, still pondering over the question herself.
