To all yall that have been reading the Shinrin posts, this is a cant miss. And if you havnt been reading those, this is still a pretty great post, so read on my friends! ))
Shinrin's heart sank. She couldn't explain it, but she just knew something bad had just happened. She looked over at her younnger sister. She had the same expression on her face. So...she felt it too. Taikai looked over at Shinrin. "Did you..." Shinrin nodded. She looked forward into the trees. She knew it had something to do with their older sisters, Taiga and Sabaku, she just knew it. "Taikai, where is Taiga?" Taikai shook her head. "I dont know..well..she told me she was going to go talk to Sabaku last time I saw her...She didnt look happy." Shinrin's fears had just been confirmed. "We have to find her. NOW."
The two rushed through the trees, following Shinrin's sense of direction. Recently, Shinrin had gotten her power of reading the stars back, though she had to relearn how to control it, and right now, she didnt have that kind of time. Instead, she read the positions of the stars, and her own instincts. She was sure that where they were headed, they would find Taiga, and possibly Sabaku.
A powerful odor soon filled the air around them. They stopped, and Taikai looked over at Shinrin. Shinrin had become quite the leader, and her intelligence made her a good one. "What is this stench?" She didnt have to answer her, for as soon as she turned her head, she saw a body, just barely breathing, yet hardly recognizable under a dead oak. She took a step closer, wondering what it was, when Shinrin stepped infront of her. "Its Taiga." She muttered under her breath.
Everything seemed to get silent except for the harsh breathing from Taiga's torn and bloodied maw. Shinrin stepped closer to her, examining her sister. Before, Taiga still had three life feathers, now, she only had one, which was stripped, and at any time, appeared as if it would fall off out of existance. Taikai soon followed Shinrin. She knew by the damage done to Taiga, that it was SAbaku who had left her in this condition.
A tiny cough emmitted from the shattered wolf's maw. "I knew you two would come..." She spoke in an appearingly old, frail voice. "You have to stop her...you have to..kill her..." One of her eyes opened. The other eye would have opened, if it were still attached to Taiga in the first place. A bloody tear dripped from her cheek. Her mind was set on many things she had failed to do. She had failed to find Zabu..but..perhaps she would be finding him soon, out where no wolves can even imagine going, out where everything is perfect, and she will be with Zabu till the end of time...
A small smile crossed her maw, but it was not recognizable. "Shinrin...Taikai..." She inhaled dangerously. "There is one way that you can stop her..." Shinrin listened intently. Even though Shinrin was considered the smart one in the family, she knew that Taiga was supposed to be the rightful leader. Sabaku was never meant to be. Taiga continued. "Merge your lives. You two are sisters, the same blood runs through both of you...here..." She bit the feather off its string. Emmedietly, she began to lose color in her lush black fur. "Use this, what is left of my life, to merge with your feathers...Together..." A large smile crossed her maw. "We will stop her."
Taikai glanced over at Shinrin. Now that Taiga was dying, it was official, Shinrin would be the new leader. She nodded at her sister, waiting for her directions. Shinrin looked sorrowfully into Taiga's eye. "thank you Taiga." She plucked the feather from her dying sister's teeth, and instantly, Taiga became still. "Go on to Zabu..."
There was no time to shed a tear. In the blink of an eye, Taiga's body began to disintegrate onto the wind, wiping itself clear from existance. Shinrin looked over at Taikai and nodded. "We have to stopp her now...before she gets any farther." Taikai did not argue. Instead, she bit her last feather free from the string on which it dangled. Shinrin placed Taiga's feather on the ground, then took her own feather.
Shinrin looked into Taikai's eyes, and in that moment, the sisters shared the same feelings, the same emotions, the same thoughts. They placed their feathers on top of Taiga's, both paws layed over the small stack of withered feathers.
Three aura's began to glow from the feathers, blue, purple, and orange. They spread out over Shinrin and Taikai's body, enveloping them in an assortment of lively colors. In a flash of powers and light, one body stood where the two had once been.
SHE was not living, nor dead, SHE was not one, but two. HER black fur was darker than the night, HER eyes, one purple, one blue, glowed brighter than the stars in the sky. SHE had no feathers that represented life, but SHE wouldnt not die without them. SHE was not Shinrin. SHE was not Taikai. SHE was knowledge, SHE was power, SHE was wisdom, SHE was strength. And most of all, SHE was love.
"You think you will be able to stop me?! Even with these...powers...there is nothing that you can do now! This land will be mine, these wolves will be mine, and soon, this world and all that is in it will be MINE!" A menacing voice echoed out among the trees. SHE did not flinch. SHE was brave, SHE would never cowar. THe large, powerful body of Sabaku erupted from the trees, landing with a loud, thundering thud as she hit the ground. Her evil yellow eyes glared at HER, her tail flicking angrily, her snarl clearly showing off her long teeth.
"It could have been ours sisters! You could have owned it to! But you chose love!" She let out a short series of evil laughter. SHE stared at SAbaku, not a trace of fear in HER eyes. "You once had the choice of love Sabaku." SHE spoke. Sabaku snarled. "WHo? FOREST?! He was no love of mine! I USED him!" SHe grinned. Fresh blood sparkled from her yellowed teeth. "When I was finished with him, I killed him. Maybe your right...I had the choice of love...but I chose POWER! Look now who has the world in her paws!"
SHE looked sadly over at Sabaku. "WE never were part of you Sabaku. You were a mistake, never meant to happen. That is OUR purpose, to rid the world of you. WE are here to fix the mistake of you. WE are here to stop you, to kill you." Sabaku frowned. Her eyes filled with anger, hatred, and though she would not admit it, fear.
Sabaku leapt at HER, fangs and claws bared. SHE stepped quickly out of the way with gliding ease. As Sabaku landed, she flicked her tail and turned on a single paw. Her eyes only reflected fury. She let out a loud, sudden howl. The trees around them seemed to quake. Vines shot from all directions at HER. Sabaku was sure she had HER. There was no escaping the fury of the earth itself!
HER eyes glowed magnificantly, as two suns, temporarily blinding Sabaku. The vines withered from the light, retreiting back into the trees and grass, leaving HER unharmed. SHE looked over at Sabaku as her eyes began to readjust. SHE advanced. Sabaku began to panic. She never expected this power from her sisters. She flicked her tail, then stomped the ground, growling, yet holding her ground. More vines shot out, thicker and greener than the ones from before, followed by a whirlwind of leaves and rocks.
ONce more, HER eyes glowed. This time, a barrier appeared around HER. THe vines, the rocks, the leaves, where all reflected and thrown into the brush. She continued to step closer to Sabaku. Nothing was stopping her.
Sabaku's eyes widened. SHe could no longer pretend she was not afraid, for her entire body quivered in the thought that she may lose. She glanced into the forest. THrough the trees, she could see the pack lands...the world. All this, she would lose if she died...but, she still had her four lives. Surely, they could not kill her four times? Lost in her thoughts, Sabaku had not noticed the knife sharp rock which had stuck itself out of the ground, peircing through SAbaku's heart. Her eyes faded, and her heart stopped beating.
The rock retreited as SHE yet again stepped closer to Sabaku. An earie, dark green aura shot from one of Sabaku's feather, and the dead body revived itself. Emmedietly, Sabaku was standing back on her paws, but her four feathers had been reduced to three.
Uncontrollable anger flowed from Sabaku's black heart. She had to stop her sisters, had to kill them, with everything she had left, she could not fail. Her eyes began to glow a fierce green, ghastly color, and all around her, the earth began to quake, and the very ground began to break apart. Wind encircled the out of control SAbaku, picking up debris and hurling them at HER. What appeared to be long, purple energies like vines erupted themselves from HER back. They swung at the debris, knocking it away as she continued to advance, now getting dangerously close to Sabaku. As the purple auras faded, HER eyes both became blue.
Sabaku let out a tremendous scream, and a crack opened up in the ground, swallowing up everything nearby. SHE stopped and stepped onto the ground. It amazingly began to stich itself up, led by an orange aura. The same orange aura shot up from the earth, wrapping itself around Sabaku's throat. Slowly, it began to constrict the very life out of Sabaku. She fought to bite it away but it was no use. Physical power was no match for this aura which came from Taiga's life. And for the second time, Sabaku was killed.
The orange aura faded, and once more, a feather from Sabaku began to glow green, and Sabaku was resurected. Though she was alive again, she looked completly defeated. SHE was now standing directly infront of Sabaku, and she knew she had no where to run, no where to hide, and no power to fight. Her redened eyes widened and twitched. "Who...who are you?!"
SHE stood straight, HER tail flickering behind her. "WE are Koigokoro. WE are Ji, WE are Ai, WE are Ren'ai. WE are love. WE are the end of you." And with the last of HER words, SHE attacked. SHE tackled Sabaku to the ground, her claws in her back, her fangs in her neck. Sabaku struggled, kicked, bit, scratched to free herself, but it was useless as a blue, paralyzing aura enveloped Sabaku. She couldnt move, she layed there still, staring into the eyes of her sisters, realizing in those eyes, how completly useless her life was. She only caused harm, she had never chose love, and because of this, she had to die. She was only fixed on power, on strength. She was a murderer, a theif, a lyer, she was hate. She now knew, but did not want to understand, that she was truly not meant to be.
SHE stood over SAbaku, then in one quick motion, freed Sabaku from her last two life feathers. One faded in HER jaws, the other remained unharmed. Sabaku went limp, and the rest of the blue, purple, and orange aura's flowed into the sky. SHE was seperated into two again. Shinrin and Taikai emerged from the aura's, and they watched as the orange aura danced into the sky, and up onto heaven.
Shinrin stared over at Taikai. She felt weak. Their lives had been used up, but at least Sabaku was dead, no more. They looked over at their older sister. Sabaku's eyes remained large, shocked, then in another moment, her body faded away as if it had never been.
Shinrin and Taikai exchanged looks. They both collapsed onto the ground besides each other, their feathers slowly but surely fading away. A small smile appeared on Shinrin's maw. "We did it Taikai, we finished the job. Now here is the time, when the star's prophecy will be fulfilled." Taikai looked over at Shinrin, smiling. "Shinrin, my end has come. But you must go on." Shinrin frowned. "The stars said I must die..." Taikai looked at Shinrin. "The future must always be decided by yourself. You read the stars like they are always right...But you can change your own future, make it yours."
Almost right away, Shinrin thought of the one she wished she could be with more than anyone. She shook her head weakly. "Taikai...Our soul purposes were to stop Sabaku, nothing else. It is the only reason why we were born, why we exist." Taikai smiled. "Shinrin, you have been a good leader up to now, but now its time for you to listen. Your future, your purpose in life, they can only be decided by one, and thats YOU."
Shinrin's eyes glanced over to the last feather, the feather she had taken from Sabaku. It was her only chance of living. "What about you Taikai?" She worridly asked her sister. "You have a pup..a life..." Taikai laughed slightly. "Phantom is old enough to take care of herself now, and I have lived my life. We all had our happy ever after Shinrin. I had Heiwa, and Taiga had Zabu. Now its your turn Shinrin." She smiled.
Shinrin gazed with utmost wonder into her sister's eyes. As a tear fell from her face, she placed her paw onto Sabaku's last feather. The green aura left the feather, and was exchanged for a blue aura. Her own feather had now disapeared, as did Taikai's. She looked back into her young sister's eyes. Taikai smiled back at her. "Dont give up." She whispered, and though those were her only words, Shinrin knew what she meant. She smiled and nodded as her sister's body disintegrated with the rest, the purple aura floating onto the wind.
Shinrin closed her eyes. It was finally over...and she was still alive. She had proven the stars wrong. What she would do now with her life, she was completly unsure, but whatever would happen, she would not look to the stars for help, she would rely on herself, she would do what she felt in her heart was right.
When she had reawoken, hours later, it was daylight. She lifted her head. It felt lighter. Her fur was softer, yet darker, and full of life. Her look had changed, so had her mind and her heart. She was Shinrin, yet she was the very best of Shinrin, and all the worst of Shinrin just melted away. She sat up in the lush grass. All around her, the earth looked unchanged and quite normal. It knew nothing of the fight before, it knew nothing of what could have been it's demise.
But then again, thats how God works, he protects, even when the earth doesnt know it needs protecting. He brings a hero, and he conquers with the most underestimated power in every heart, love.
So All was over, and Shinrin was back.
Shinrin's heart sank. She couldn't explain it, but she just knew something bad had just happened. She looked over at her younnger sister. She had the same expression on her face.
