Kariko padded softly towards the iced-over lake. It was early morning, before the sun had risen, and a few weeks earlier Kari had discovered that, every morning at sunrise during the winter, the sun shone beautifully on the ice, and she had come every morning to that same spot ever since. The sun only shined for a few minutes before darkness took over once again, so she always came with plenty of time until the sun rose to make sure she saw it. She laid down next to the lake and waited for the moment when that little sliver of light on the horizon would grow into a huge half-circle of crimson, shining its light on the clear, glass-like ice.

'And why am I up so early again...?'
Darion had been up much more than early on the reasonably chilly morning. It was still dark out, and just as cold as he had remembered it to be, here. Darion had left the Nozomi Lands for quite some time, but couldn't stay away and only found himself coming back again because he was just attracted to it. Most of the wolves around this part were nice, well, two out of the three he had met, anyways. The other was just... ugh. Unrespectful, that was for sure. Espically because Darion could've ripped the pup's head off in a second if he wished to. Luckily for the pup, Darion was just a kind-hearted fellow, and didn't plan on ripping off any heads any time soon. However, Darion did feel like doing that sometimes, but only to those who deserved it. Darion had a very long fuse, but when it was broken, the whole world would know, because it wasn't very pretty when it happened.
The big red brute wasn't exactly sure why he was so kind to most people, when he could easily get his way all the time. Darion did look quite scary, espically with the size of him. Darion had a bright red pelt, with black running up his paws and down the tip of his tail. He had a black lightning bolt mark almost, over his eye. His eyes were very pretty, being a light amber color and really quite amazing. His body was large, but long and very lean. He was obviously made as a runner, but Darion could be a very tough fighter if you got onto the wrong side of him. Thankfully enough, it was nearly impossible to get onto the badside (actually, any side) of Darion. Normally he was just quiet and kind of left to explore his own thoughts, but always polite, beause that was just the way he was wired.
Coming to a stop when he got near the lake, he looked around it, and spotted only one other wolf there. It was still quite dark, and she looked oddly determined. What she was doing? He really didn't know, and was slightly curious to find out. Of course, being the "big bad wolf" that he was, he quietly walked over to her. "Hello," He said, making sure to keep his distance. my name is Darion. If you don't mind my asking, what exactly are you doing?" Hah, yes. Darion was quite straight-forward when it came to things he wanted to know. He wouldn't mess around and wait, no, that wasn't like him. Darion always got straight to the point with things, making sure he didn't make anyone else bored too easily. If he found that he did, then he'd leave, apologizing for wasting their time. It was just the way he worked. Oh yes, you could call Darion odd.

"Hello, my name is Darion. If you don't mind my asking, what exactly are you doing?"
Kari's ears perked up as she heard another wolf's voice, and she turned her head to look at whoever it was. A red and black wolf who apparently called himself Darion. She hated when people asked questions that couldn't be answered with a nod, a shake of the head, or a shrug, what with her inability to speak. She exhaled in a sigh, and turned her head back to the lake. He would find out what she was doing in just a few moments.
And, about a minute later, the sun had risen enough to shine its crimson light on the ice, causing it to look as if it was glowing in a soft, reddish-pink light. Kariko smiled and turned back to look at Darion. Her eyes said it all, This is what I was doing.

At first, Darion was quite confused. Was he that terrifying? He wouldn't have thought so. And then, it hit him. When the soft, warm glow of colors refleted off the ice he understood. "Oh, I see now." He said with a nod towards the ice, then looked back towards the wolf. "You can't speak, can you?" He asked her. Or at least, if she could, she was definatly strange. If he could talk and he were her, he would have told himself to buzz off. But, he wasn't her, and now he was rambaling and not making any sense. Darion did that quite a bit, these days, and it annoyed the living hell out of him. 'You old bastard, quit talking to yourself...' He scolded himself, then realized he had done it again, and kicked himself mentally. He could make himself so mad without even trying.

Kari shook her head, then turned back to the beautiful and natural light show. After a few moments it faded to darkness, and Kari stood up and began to walk back to the Yasu Dens. She smiled as she passed Darion, as if to say, It was nice meeting you, even if I couldn't tell you my name.
