A wolfess made her way through the meadow. Once when she was younger she used to be a stunning beautiful wolf -- now she was heartbroken, her looks were begining to fade. Her fur was almost completely white, which hung loosely upon her thin frame, however there were some marks upon her body along with some ribbons tied upon her head and her back right let and her front left leg. In the prime of her life she was a very beautiful creature, and she still would have been, she wasn't ugly...but because of the lost of her love...it had taken a toll upon her looks. She was old compared to other wolves, but she was only 7 years old, she could live to be around 300 or so years old so 7 was nothing compared to what she could become.
Her sapphire eyes gaze back upon her son. The only thing she had left important in her life. Everyone else she believed to be dead...except for her daughter Atuka, she was still alive, but she wasn't with them she left quite a long time ago. Although she was not Atuka's and Roku's birth mother she was their mother, and she always made sure they knew that. However once she did have a litter of her own. But then they came back and killed them! Along with Haiku! Just the thought caused tears to come to her eyes...no that was a long time ago...half a year ago...she had to move on.
"I think we'll settle here, Roku." She said looking at her son. "It's a nice quiet place and I need a rest." She said. She was getting weaker. Both mentally and physically. She couldn't walk for a long period of time without getting tired. It wasn't really because of her age mostly from depression and the war that happened those short months ago. She remembered it like it was yesterday.
Her old pack came back...the Alphas and her old mate were angry at her for leaving...and angry at all those fail attempts, so they decided to start a war...and a war they made indeed. Right away they killed her newborn pups. She fought the Alphess, but she almost killed her. Haiku insisted that she leave with Roku, but she didn't want to leave...but she did....she never saw him again. Just the thought brought tears to her eyes.
She laid down upon the ground and took deep heavy breaths. The Alphess tore up her lungs and most of her major organs, which took several weeks before she could even move, and still once in a while she would caught up blood or collapse upon the ground. She knew Roku worried about her, but she insisted she was alright, she wasn't about to leave him now, she had to remain strong.
She missed her old life. The life where her Haiku, Atuka, and Roku lived peacefully...now that happy ending would never come. Haiku was dead. Atuka was long gone and she was half-dead. She shook her head as she turned her eyes around the land...it was nice here...but they never staid in one spot for too long...she wasn't sure what happened to the pack...but if they didn't win they would search for her so they had to keep moving. Just the thought of it brought pain to her.
Haiku....we need you so much. Why did you have to go?

Roku nodded as he stood straight and tall besides his mother. He looked down at her with a smile, his crimson fur glimmering in the light that poked through the trees. The color he once wore around his neck had gotten too small, and he instead wore it around his front left leg. It was the only reminder of his birth parents, and he was not going to give it up.
As he stopped, he glanced around the area. It was calm here...it would be a good place to stay for a while. He looked back over at his frail mother. How much weaker she was getting... Roku gave a small frown. She remembered the day the fight came...Roku had tried his best to fight, and he had killed one member of the pack, but then Haiku had told him to stay away from the fight. Just before him and Mikiu had fled, as Haiku requested, he had told Roku to take care of Mikiu.
Roku gave a sigh. Though he longed to have a life like his siter, to be free to do what he wanted, he felt like this was where he belonged, taking care of his foster mother who had taken care of him for the first two years of his life. He was glad to be helping, and he wouldnt have it any other way. His ears twitched as he heard footsteps behind him. Emmedietly he turned around, jumping in the way of his mother to protect her, growling.
A figure stepped weakly through the bushes. The wolf that had appeared wasnt exactly the most attractive thing on earth. He was larger than most wolves, and he was obviously an old wolf, nearing his death age. His fur was a faded grey, where it once had shined silver, and he had a rather akward limp in his step. A single, tattered demonic wing rose out from his back, and a tail, more like a dragons than a wolf, dragged the ground behind him.
Roku emmedietly stopped growling. Though the figure was...anything but kind looking by most of his appearence, Roku knew he was no danger to them, even if he did try to attack. The old wolf stopped before getting too close, its ears pricking up as it did. Now that he was closer, Roku noticed the old wolf had many scars across his body, as well as one that tore across his chest, and appeared as if it would bleed again at any moment, though Roku could tell it wasnt exactly a new scar. He could also see the blood stains in the wolf's shaggy grey fur, ones that were fading with the weather.
As he stood gaping at the intruder, the wolf shook the shaggy bangs from his eyes. Two bright, sky blue eyes peered over at Roku. Roku saw, even though the old wolf walked with an odd, unforgiving limp, though his fur was tattered and worn, and though he looked as if he would kill over at any moment, he could not help but notice that this wolf seemed to have more strength, more courage, than any other he had ever seen before.
"Roku." A smile appeared on the old wolf's maw. "Thank you for taking care of your mother for me." Roku's navy blue eyes widened. his black tipped tail waved behind him as a large smile crossed his maw. He thought those eyes looked familiar. Though he was old and worn, he still had the strength in him that would never fade. Roku knew for a fact that this was Haiku now. His voice made it certain.

Mikiu didn't notice the wolf approaching. She was lost in her own little world. She wasn't sleeping. Sleep never came easy for her anymore. Whenever she would closer her eyes and hope for an ounce of sleep -- horrible nightmares causing her to stay awake all night...now she was afraid to go to sleep. The memories were too horrible. She wanted to forget them, but she couldn't, no matter how hard she tried.
Her ears flickered as she thought she heard a male's voice. It sounded familiar, but she couldn't quite place to to a particular wolf. She tried to catch the words of the male, but all she could catch was Roku's name. How did this strange wolf know her son's name? A frown came across her body as she pushed her frail body from the ground and turned around. "Now what in the world is goi---" Her words caught in her throat as she saw the wolf.
"Haiku..." She whispered. She could feel the tears sting her eyes. She thought he was dead and here he was standing in front of her. No, it couldn't be real. She turned her head and looked at Roku, his expression made her know it was no dream or illusion. She took a few steps forward, tears rolling down her cheek, each step sent a shocking pain through her body, but she ignored it. "Y-you're alive?" She whispered almost not believing it.

the old wolf took a step forward, a couragous smile coming over his maw. He walked to Mikiu, an obvious limp in his step, stopping right infront of her and standing tall. "I told you...I will always be here when you need me." He smiled brightly, the world coming back into his eyes. "No dumb freak of a pack is going to keep me from you." He leaned down and nuzzled her. Roku walked over to their side. "Haiku...wha...what happened?" he asked, his tail wagging as if he were a cub waiting to hear an exciting story.
Haiku nodded, sitting down infront of them. "Well...after you guys left, things seemed to get worse. Im glad you left when you did...or else Im sure that...something worse would have happened. " He stopped a moment and took a deep breath. he looked over at Roku, who was eyeing the demonic wing and dragonic like tail, and decided to start off with that. "Well, if you were wondering why I look...well like this..." he flapped his tattered wing and thumped his large, feather covered, though lizard like tail. "well it happened after the fight...after you guys left... Me and the rest of the pack fought against the others. It was tough...and ...unfortunatly, we lost many lives..." He glanced down at this notion, staying silent for a moment.
"Well... they too were loosing lives. But there were three that the pack didnt stand a chance with...and you could guess who they were....and, as beta, and also the mate of my love, I knew it was my job to fight them. At first...I was sure I didnt have a chance. But...I wouldnt give up. You were my inspiration..." He glanced at Roku, then Mikiu. "I couldnt let my family down."
"Well...I knew one thing, I had to fight fire with fire. There was no way I could dare fight them with my normal body, so ofcourse...I transformed into the alphess once more to fight the three of them. I did have one help...he kept the alpha away for a moment while I fought the alphess and...well...your exmate. It was an incredibly hard fight...but I killed the alphess nontheleast. If you asked me today, I could only tell you it was mostly a blur...all I remember is that wenches tail digging into my chest." With this he gestured towards the scar in his chest. Roku had been right, it didnt just look like it was still bleeding slightly, it was still bleeding slightly.
"Well as you know...the poison was supposed to have killed me, but for some reason, it didnt get too far. However, this wound will never quite heal." He let out a slight laugh. "but it doesnt bleed too much...thank God for that." He shook his fur a bit so that it hid his scar a little, seeing as Roku was gaping at it worridly. "Well....then the alpha came back...and..." He closed his eyes for a moment. "Well he had my friend's body in his cruddy teeth.." He opened his eyes again. "I couldnt forgive him for that. He was the next to go... though, it was alot easier to kill him than I expected..."
He stopped for a moment, shifting his position, then began talking again. "The last one...he had me down." He gave out a small laugh. "guess he was angry I killed the alphas...and he didnt want me to end up with you. " he shrugged. "He nearly killed me...had me right in his grasp...broke my leg nearly right off...if it wasnt for the sun shining in his miserable face and blinding him a split second..I would have died." He nodded, then stopped for a moment.
"When the fight was over, and i turned back to my normal self...well...this is what happened...I knew this would happen if I used my powers too much, and it did. So now Im stuck with that wretch's wing and tail forever. " He shrugged. "but I would have given it all up to make sure you would be safe." A warm smile covered his maw.

"Korukenu is dead? They're all dead?" She asked almost in disbelief. Never for her whole life did she believe that she wouldn't have to worry about them. Never would she believe that they would die before her. It felt weird...she been running most of her life...even when she decided to stay with Haiku they came and found her, she always had to look behind her, she always felt their presence, but now she was free, however none of that mattered now. So long as Haiku was alive.
"Are you okay?" She asked as she looked at him with a frown. "You should rest." She knew he was not okay even if he did say he was. The war had taken a toll on both of them. She turned her gaze on Roku. She felt bad for him. He shouldn't have to stay here with them. He should be able to live his own life. Get a mate have pups. Like Atuka who left -- what seems like forever ago -- to live her own life.
She turned her gaze away from the both of them as she sat down. "I can't believe their dead." She said with a frown, then a thought came across her mind as she turned to look back toward Haiku. "Hakiu...did everyone die in the pack or did some escape?" She was obviously thinking of her parents. Her father -- she knew could never die, but her mother was a mortal. She didn't like her parents at all. They raised her from birth with much bitterness as if they didn't want their two daughters.
The thought reminded her of her sister. She wonder where she was now. For the past two years they hardly spoke to each other, not because they didn't want to, but because they had separate lives. Did she fight in the war too? Had she come and fought them then died? "What about the good wolves? Did any of them live?"

Haiku frowned as he sat down. "It appears that you need more rest than me Mikiu...Ive had my rest. what is done know will stick with me..." He was refering to the slight shortness of breath that was coming with his old age, as well as the limp. They wouldnt heal. "As for our old pack....many of them survived. Mostly the only ones that were killed were warriors...so most of the epsilons and other pack members survived..."
He stopped a moment, biting his lip. "As for...the others. I havnt a clue. While I was fighting those three...both packs were fighting....I do know that a few of them managed to escape...though Im not quite sure how many. I wouldnt doubt it if they tried to return...but...now that the alphas are dead....they will be much weaker next time if they decide to return."
He turned his attention to Roku, giving another smile and a nod. "Again Roku, I thank you. You have been very loyal." Roku smiled. "Its been my pleasure. I see it as my duty to protect and take care of the best wolves Ive ever known...its an honor." Haiku smiled. "Im very proud of you. however, I want you to leave...to go out into the world, and finally live your own life." ROku frowned, blinking. "But..." Haiku interupted. "Roku you have done more than enough for us. " Roku glanced at the ground. "Yes but...you both saved me and my sister...raised us as if we were your own! It is my duty..." "Your duty is done, son."
For a moment, Roku and Haiku exchanged glances, and the father son relationship parted. "Roku..." Haiku spoke in a soft yet commanding voice. "Go, live your life. Youve done well, your mission is through. Im back, and for the time being...I will do just fine...and so will Mikiu. But you...you need to be happy." Roku's blue eyes started to tear up, though a smile came to his face. "You two always made things better. I am proud that you found us...and I couldnt thank you enough for getting rid of Z...you guys made me so happy. I will never doubt you were meant to be my family."
Roku walked up to his father and mother, hugging each of them the only way a wolf can. He stopped and smiled. Haiku smiled as well, and they both exchanged thank yous. "I will say, father...mother..." He said, looking at both of them. "That you had better expect me to visit." He glanced around. "I rather like this place...I..I think I'll stay."

Mikiu agreed with Haiku. No matter how painful it was to let her son go...or how much she was going to miss him, he did need to go. He needed to get out and raise his own family or whatever he wished to do. "We'll always love you, Roku, no matter what." She said as she felt tears in her eyes. The 'no matter what' statement directed that Mikiu and Haiku wouldn't always be there. They were both getting older. Though Mikiu coul have an extended life...it was ruined during the war and all the battles she been going through and she didn't mind. She would glad to die when Haiku died. She didn't want it any other way.
"I'll miss you so much, Roku. You go on now. You don't need to hang around us." She said with a small smile. She would have a happy ending after all. Haiku was here and their children were grown up. She was still upset about the lost of her birth children, but she would have been upset if something happened to Roku or his sister. She sat down upon the ground, all this excitement worn her out even more then she was before. She felt much older then what she was and looked.
Then a strange aroma filled the air. Mikiu wrinkled her nose as she turned to look at her son and mate. "Did you smell that?" She asked her ears perked. She couldn't quite remember where she smelt that aroma before. It was obvious a wolf and whoever it was they weren't too far away, but it who could it be? It wasn't long until the sent got strong and stronger...and it was only then did Mikiu realize who it was. "Can it be.....?" She whispered, her voice barley audible.
She traveled a long ways. She was oblivious to the war or anything that had happened in her old home. It was weird thinking like that. It been about a year since she left her parents and her brother and every day she missed them, but she wouldn't have taken it back, she loved everything about her life. The fresh air, traveling, meeting new wolves. No, she never gotten a chance to settle down, but she felt as if she wasn't ready for that anymore...yes the miscarriage she had was depressing, but she wanted to live her life before stopping and starting a family.
The wolfess stopped and paused. Her soft velvet eyes flickered around the land....she had an odd feeling about something, but she wasn't sure what it was. It was a good feeling, however. Her fur was a dark pink color - almost looking red, but not quiet. Upon her front left paw she wore a bracelet...it wasn't much a bracelet but a collar...the only thing she had left to remember her birth parents, even if she considered her adopted parents her family no matter what.
She changed a lot in the past year. Her body was now thinner and not as awkward as when she was a pup. Her fur was thin and silky, shimmering in the dimness of light. She did have to admit she was pretty, but she wasn't beautiful, or so she thought. Her long silky tail flickered behind her as she looked around. What was so familiar? She kept on walking....until she spotted 3 wolves that seemed oddly familiar.
"Oh my..." She mumbled to herself. It couldn't possibly be them. Why would they be here? Why weren't they back home? What had happened? So many questions ran through her mind as she walked over to them, half-believing they weren't real and any moment they would vanish before her eyes. "Mom? Dad? Roku?!" She called to them. Still debating if they were real or not.
Mikiu turned her head and gasped when she saw her daughter. So it was her! "Atuka!" She cried happily, but she could not get up to go see her long-lost daughter. She was too weak for that, but a large smile came across her maw and a calmness sparkled in her sapphire eyes. [/blockquote]

Haiku emmedietly turned around, standing tall and bravely at the wolf who had approached them. A warm smile traveled across his maw. "Atuka..." Roku's eyes lit up with finally seeing his sister again. "ATUKA!" He shouted excitedly, his tail wagging crazily as if he were a pup again. He ran over to her and stopped, smiling wildly. "How did you...and where...and what...and...Your here!"
Haiku decided not to run up to Atuka as Roku had, and instead sat down besides Mikiu, his tattered demonic wing rested akwardly to the side. He was glad to see his daughter again...here was the whole family...back again. He felt...complete. He didnt know how much longer he was going to live, but he was glad that he got to see his pups once more, and glad that he was going to be right there, right by Mikiu's side...just as they had for years.
All those years seemed like forever ago..but he could still remember them. The time him and Mikiu first met, next to the lake...the first time he fell in love..the race they had in which his small wings forced him to fall into the water and nearly drown, the time Mikiu became his mate, then finding Roku and Atuka...taking them in as if they were his own. Through everything, the bad times, and the good, nothing made him feel more complete than his family.

Atuka wagged her tail. She was excited to see her brother, she thought she would never see them again. "What am I doing here? What are you guys doing here?" She asked as she tilted her head, a large smile was spread across her maw. "I'm just traveling through ya'know? I've been to a lot of places. Met a lot of cool wolves. It's been great, but I've missed you, all of you." She said. She was still wondering what they were doing here and not home.
Mikiu smiled as she turned to look at Haiku. "Everything's perfect now, isn't it? The three of them are dead. We got to see our children raise...and even got to see Atuka again...before...well you know." She said turning her gaze back to the two pups. She knew that if Atuka did visit them again, it would probably be another year maybe more until they saw their daughter again, and Mikiu and Haiku would probably be dead by then.

Haiku smiled and nodded. "Yea...its perfect." He turned to look at Atuka and smiled. "Well, we came here after there was a war in our old pack, to make the story short. We...Well I think..." He turned his head to Mikiu. "I think we might be staying too. Things are quiet here." Roku smiled, his tail still wagging.
"Atuka this is so great that your here! I was, well just about to leave..but now that your here...oh we should stay one night, please? Just to...well be a family again! Make it the best night ever." Haiku Smiled. That would be nice...one last night to be a complete family, to be happy. Well...now that he was back with Mikiu, he knew one thing for sure, the rest of his days would be happy days.
Like his old shamin father said, "Never look forward to the end, and instead live till it comes."

"Of course! You don't expect me to leave after I reunite with my family do you?" Atuka said with a small smile. Of course Atuka couldn't stay...no matter how much she loved and missed her family. Traveling had taking her love and she felt as if she would go insane if she stuck in once place for too long. "I won't be able to stay for too long though. My travels call my name as we speak, but a night wouldn't hurt." She said.
Mikiu smiled. "Yes, isn't it just perfect, Haiku? We get to end our days peacefully and happily." She said with a deep sigh. She leaned her head against Haiku and closed her eyes. She was hear with the love of her life as well as her two children...even if Atuka was going to leave by tomorrow, at least they were a family once again, for at least one more day, and that was all that mattered. Haiku nodded giving a warm, confident smile. He wrapped his single wing around her, placing one of his massive paws gently and compassionately on hers, looking into her eyes with a sincere look. "After all the years of fighting and striving to survive...we will be happy." He let out a sigh with his old age. "I think it was well worth it...falling in love with you...deciding never to let you go."
Roku looked over at Atuka, smiling slightly. He was so glad his adoptive parents were happy. After all they had done for him and his sister, he knew they deserved it.

(( Rawr D:< It's too short. Darn you Wolfur! lol just kidding^^ It's all good mine's gunna be short too xD ))
Mikiu smiled at him. "I'm glad I fallen in love with you too. You gave me freedom, and that's all I really asked for. If I could redo it all again, I wouldn't change a single thing." She said as she licked his cheek. She was glad that she would be able to die happy. Knowing her children were safe and her mate was alive, and was right beside her.
Atuka smiled softly. "I've been gone for a long time." She said turning to look at her brother. "However I remember it like it was yesterday when I first left. Funny how that is."

Roku let out a small laugh. "Yea...Back in the good ole days, eh?" He shifted in his position, since he was accidently sitting on his tail. He hoped no one noticed. A fly buzzed around his ear and he shook his head. The fly flew off. Roku stared at it as it left, then stared down at the small collar around his paw. He smiled. "Well..to me it doesnt feel like it was QUITE yesterday...but...ehh.." He shrugged, laughing slightly. ((sorry I have SERIOUS brain block...thought I should post atleast SOMETHING ))

"Yeah." Atuka said with a soft nod of her head. "Things changed a lot over the past year...I mean look at you Roku! I can hardly recognize you, you've grown so much." She said with a smile. Part of her wished that she had stayed with her family, she felt as if she missed out on most of her family's life, but the other part was glad that she left, and longed to keep on moving.

Roku grinned, standing tall and proud looking. "Yea...I have been working out." He joked. Haiku laughed softly at Roku. Even though he never had any pups of his own, Roku and Atuka were more than he could ever have hoped for, perhaps even a gift from God. He looked up into the sky and smiled a thank you to the heavens.

Atuka shook her head at her brother. "Mhm. I'm sure you have been!" She said with a giggle. For some reason she felt as if she was a pup again, being here...with her family. It wasn't a bad feeling, but this really wasn't the way she acted toward others. She wasn't sure why it was so different. She sighed as she sat down upon the ground. She wanted to stay here...and yet she wanted to leave. She frowned slightly.
